Today, we’d like to blow through the concept that Spiritual Growth and Evolution and the pursuance of ‘enlightenment’ are always a… Happy, Joyful, Exciting embarkment into the unknown!
…And for some this is true. Which only means that this article is NOT for you. LOL.
You see we aren’t going to discuss all the unattainable, preconceived notions of what Awakening, Enlightenment and Ascension are about. No, today we are going to focus on the area NO ONE wants to talk about…
The long, sometimes dark, road that lies in between your unconscious/unawakened state and your Conscious/Awakened/Enlightened state.
“But Elizabeth, then you are focusing on the negative aspects of evolution” some will say, but that would be perception.
Instead, we are focusing on the REALITY of things because it’s important to know, before embarking on a path of Spiritual Growth and Evolution, that sometimes the road you need to travel on in order make that journey is NOT always filled with sunshine and lined with Roses.
- “Make no mistake about it… Enlightenment is a destructive process. It has nothing to do with becoming better or being happier. Enlightenment is the crumbling of untruth. It’s seeing through the facade of pretense. It’s the complete eradication of everything we imagined to be true.” Adyashanti
I speak to this, because I wish someone would have told this to me over 10 years ago, before I embarked on this path.
Back then; it was all about “talking to your Angels, Guides, learning about energy and how to heal (without ‘knowing’ what healing really meant,) about creating more happiness and a more prosperous life alongside spirit. Roses.
Some of you might be in the “budding” phase or have already set your foot along the path… and YES there is a “Rose-y” side to things but learning how to manage the crumbling parts of your reality takes a little getting used to.
First, there is the Clearing Process.
An Energetic Clearing is an eradication of the things (thoughts, feelings, beliefs, mechanisms and ‘truths’) that are no longer in alignment with your new path.
These pieces are then “Cleared” from your energetic fields, chakra system and other spiritual bodies.
This process, in it and of itself, can be unsettling not only to your mind and emotions, but to your body as well. Yes, there are PHYSICAL symptoms that coincide with clearing energy. (They include but are not limited to: Headaches, Colds, Flu like symptoms, body aches and pains etc…) They usually last for about 3 days and disappear.
Second there is the Healing Process.
Now that you’ve cleared all these old pieces (and we mean OLD – like PAST LIFE OLD) now it’s time to “heal” them. You always want to make sure you’re working with someone who can handle all these pieces when clearing and healing energy.
The healing process sounds like relief, doesn’t it? Sometimes that is true, but other times it can bring up even more EMOTIONS that have to be processed by the body, your mind and your energy.
When energy doesn’t move smoothly it can get stuck in the body, or other spiritual bodies. Stuck energy weighs heavily on the Mental and Emotional Bodies. This can cause frustration, irritation, angry, depression, sadness, feeling lost, lonely, alone etc…
Those are super uncomfortable feelings that can throw you right out of balance.
Lastly, when you’ve done a lot of Clearing and Healing work – probably more than you should – there is that feeling that you are losing your mind.
You’ve unraveled so many pieces in your energy and cleared so many dysfunctional thoughts, feelings and beliefs that you can quite put your finger on who you are anymore.
Yea, you think you can manage it because sometimes you have good days and it feels great! …But it’s those other days where you’re purging the deeper layers that send you spiraling down the path into depression and anxiety that seem harder to manage.
You might even notice that your sense have heightened. You can ‘read other people,’ pick up on their emotions, hear the Angelic Realm a bit more clearly (which is fun) and yet you still feel heavy, empathic, and at times, you just want to crawl into a hole and hide from the world.
We describe this as the:
The Dark Night Of The Soul
Eckert Tolle describes this process a little better than me. He says:
It is a term used to describe what one could call a collapse of a perceived meaning in life…an eruption into your life of a deep sense of meaninglessness. The inner state in some cases is very close to what is conventionally called depression. Nothing makes sense anymore, there’s no purpose to anything. Sometimes it’s triggered by some external event, some disaster perhaps, on an external level. The death of someone close to you could trigger it, especially premature death, for example if your child dies. Or you had built up your life, and given it meaning – and the meaning that you had given your life, your activities, your achievements, where you are going, what is considered important, and the meaning that you had given your life for some reason collapses.
It can happen if something happens that you can’t explain away anymore, some disaster which seems to invalidate the meaning that your life had before. Really what has collapsed then is the whole conceptual framework for your life, the meaning that your mind had given it. So that results in a dark place. But people have gone into that, and then there is the possibility that you emerge out of that into a transformed state of consciousness. Life has meaning again, but it’s no longer a conceptual meaning that you can necessarily explain. Quite often it’s from there that people awaken out of their conceptual sense of reality, which has collapsed.
They awaken into something deeper, which is no longer based on concepts in your mind. A deeper sense of purpose or connectedness with a greater life that is not dependent on explanations or anything conceptual any longer. It’s a kind of re-birth. The dark night of the soul is a kind of death that you die. What dies is the egoic sense of self. Of course, death is always painful, but nothing real has actually died there – only an illusory identity. Now it is probably the case that some people who’ve gone through this transformation realized that they had to go through that, in order to bring about a spiritual awakening. Often it is part of the awakening process, the death of the old self and the birth of the true self.
SPOILER ALERT:
The Dark Night Of The Soul does NOT last 1 NIGHT! 😉
It can take YEARS! FYI. ❤
This process can be disruptive – but then again – if we refer to the first quote above, we’ve already established this as a destructive process.
Destruction is also disruptive.
SO…
How do you lose your mind with grace?
1 . Educate yourself!
Get your hands on material and READ. This will give you a ‘basic’ account of what you can expect and maybe even some answers to what you’re experiencing.
Educate yourself on ENERGY and how it works, how it clears, how it heals etc… The better understanding of the process you have the better clarity you have on YOUR process.
- Find A Spiritual Guide, Healer, Counselor, Coach etc…
Contrary to popular belief, you’re NOT the only one who’s been down this path before. (Although, it might feel like it. Believe me, we empathize.)
There are people out there who can help you manage the “shift” you’re experiencing, give you insight as to what’s coming up, WHY you’re feeling the way you are and even help you Get back Into Balance with it.
- Develop a Set Of Tools!
Tools are ways in which to manage your funk when it hits and hits hard.
These tools can be as simple as enlisting the energetic assistance from Meditation, Flower Essences, Crystal Therapy, Sound Therapy, Acupuncture, Massage, Chiropractic work etc…
Your coping ‘tools’ will be very important to develop in order to help you from losing your mind.
- Allow For The Release!
This is probably the easiest and most difficult step to do. Yes, you read that correctly.
It’s easy in that you do nothing and allow for the pieces to fall together, integrate, shift and move.
Can you do that? 😉
It’s the most difficult step because the answer to the above question is usually a NO. LOL.
We live in times in which we want immediate results. We want to feel better NOW but when it comes to this kind of processing…
NOW only exists in this moment.
This requires you to be in this moment – with your ‘Shift’ – which is super uncomfortable.
In closing, we would like to offer these words for your consideration:
- Be Gentle With Yourself.
- You are doing the very best you can in this moment.
- You are deeply loved.
- This too shall pass.
- All is well.
- You are not alone.
- Fear is a liar.
- And Separation is an illusion of the ego.
Wishing you much love and joy on your path.
